highlights from June researches
5 interesting businesses model and 1 behavioral theme
|
|
- ๐ฎ "Conflict Kitchen" - Food for thought
Pop-up restaurants using food as an ingredient to discussion. A project/restaurant that served cuisine from countries with which the United States was in conflict (Iranian, Afghan, Venezuelan, North Korean...). For me this was one of the greatest found on this month, because "food" has a direct relation with our culture and origin as human being. Link for video.
> Dada: Create social relations with your brand by offering limited editions - consumption trigger based on scarcity. Add seasons to your business related to any theme (based on weather, sports, memes of the moment, cultural aspects...).
- ๐ค Mannequin Challenge - From a video fad to A.I.
Remember this? The viral YouTube trend has now being used to train a neural network by Google AI team for the ability of robots to reconstruct the depth and arrangement of freely moving objects. Even considering the data in use is anonymous, the big question is: Is it ok for companies to use someone's data this way?
> Dada: Privacy is the word of the moment, a great subject to your company think about it. An increasing group of people is looking for more transparency services and solutions out of big corporations (like DuckDuckGo within more than 1bi of monthly researches - a startup considered a "Google competitor" focus on privacy).
- Social Selling - Chinese company Pinduoduo
"Wholesale in retail". Do you wanna buy a smartphone? Gather your friends and shopping online bigger quantities in smaller prices. This concept goes beyond the traditional group buying (that usually offers a "half experience" by an accessible cost). LinkedIn post.
> Dada: Youngest generations (Y and Z, born since ~1982) are really influenced by the mouth-to-mouth and referrals than traditional media. The strongest currencies of this time are online reviews and friends referrals inside micro social medias (Whatsapp and Facebook groups, Instagram, SnapChat, etc). Do you ask for referrals? Your company is ready for social selling?
- Loop - The greatest company example of circular economy.
Convenience and quality of your selected brands, delivery at your home and in durable containers. Zero-waste, no need to recycle or clean. Is your shampoo over? Just get another one by putting back your container in the tote and scheduling a free pick up from your home. Video on LinkedIn.
> Dada: Returnable packaging is back from the 60/70s as an exchange currency. Our human consciousness as well, looking for ways to waste less. Better prices, without disposable materials and reverse logistic will be the trend topics and really usual on the next 5 years.
- Amazon certification - Frustration-free packaging
Since 2008, they've being working on a certification that reduces disposable materials. Packaging that is made of 100% recyclable materials, easy to open and designed to ship products in their original packaging, which eliminates the need for an additional shipping box. Watch the video to understand better the impact with a Fisher-Price toy. LinkedIn post.
> Dada: Less logistic costs and better experience for the final customer. After watching the video, the question is: How is your product or service consumer journey? Have you already done your full path to check how to optimize cost and improve your customer experience?
- "Screen time" is over! Life outside... on its way?
A research shows that people switches from one screen activity to another continually every 20 seconds, and rarely spent more than 20 minutes uninterrupted on any one activity. New York Times.
> Dada: That's the proof for the end of an old discussion between online and offline life, because nowadays everything is literally mixed together. Brands that stand out are those who deliver small pieces of content, summaris, curatorship and help people to transform hours in minutes during the people wait moments (bus stop, for example). On the other hang, "Digital Detox" is the counter trend that is gaining power.
