highlights from my last researches

interesting businesses model and consumer behavior theme
  1. 🤖 Digital voice assistants for everybody
The future is voice-first, but not for everyone. Because of the unique speech patterns of people with Down syndrome, voice technology doesn’t always understand them. So a Canadian NGO is working with Google to collect voice samples from the adult Down syndrome community to create a database that can help train Google A.I. Project Understood.

  2. Minimalism in the finance world
Banks, credit cards and even cash: Finance Market is getting a face lift by taking everything non essential from services and products. This article shows many different exemples, like the redesign of country's note system, swapping traditional icons for simple, geometric and nature-themed patterns. A/D/O.

  3. Beauty community
An app creates a community around beauty industry. Besides of curated content and sharing tips between members, it makes booking easier for different services with independent professionals and specialized beauty salons (nails, hair, makeup, etc). Beautystack.

  4. Reusable cups for rental
How to reduce plastic consumption and keeps the convenience? This German Company found a great solution: They've created a platform where you can have coffee at a store by "renting" a reusable cup (for only a deposit of 1 Euro) and letting you return the cup or mug in another location without the need for washing it. Recup

  5. 🧠 Managing your friends with apps
People are using apps (CRM) as personal assistants to manage and remember to keep in touch with their friends, because after all "[...] To have a best friend, you first need to be one ... and we help you with that.". The Atlantic.

  6. Diversity and inclusion in packaging
In respect for non-binary and transgender people, Always (a Procter & Gamble brand) will take the venus symbol (often used to classify "feminine products") out from their pad packages. Fast Company.

  7. Health generation games
With the promise of freeing you from the "confinement" of gyms, many companies, apps, games, and products are getting into fitness market to help you keep in shape while having fun. Nintendo is one of those companies that has reinvented itself by launching several physical activity products, such as the Switch Ring Fit (a "circle" that reminds a car steering wheel + a rubber band to put on one of your legs and track your movements). The Verge. Vox.

  8. 🦇 Devices that sense your presence
Using high-frequency sound waves (beyond what we can hear), Google has updated its Nest Hub devices (small tablets that act as personal assistants) to interpret how sound reflects in the environment and whether there is anyone there and how far away is. Based on this information, the display tailor their interface accordingly (making the texts bigger, for example). Android Police.

  9. Microchips in humans
More companies and services allow you to insert a small chip under your skin to make payments and store your information, which has raised concerns and ethical discussions when companies want to "chip" their employees. The Guardian.

  10.  Delivering outside the box
Have you ever bought something small online that came in a giant cardboard box? 3M has created a way to solve this problem: A material that unites the functionality of bubble wrap, tape and envelope bag. Like a roll of paper towels: you stretch out on the table and place your product between two layers ... to seal, just press the edges with your hand (just like a calzone or pizza dough) and you're done! 3M Scotch.

podcast: season 2

it's coming in english by 2020
LeroCast is an audio experiment for Portuguese speakers, where I share topics related to trends and consumer behavior and my colleague, Roberto Nunes, talks about entrepreneurship.

We talked to many different senior people from influencers, freelancers and companies like Mastercard, Rappi (leader delivery app in South America) and Continental (automotive manufacturing). We discussed about future of cars, ending of money, how to work better from home or anywhere, our experiences about building different businesses, among others.

During this pilot, we've done 18 episodes so far and it was amazing how much I've learned from creating content, soundtracking, interviewing, recording, editing and marketing them!

That being said, for 2020, I'll put alive a podcast in English. It will be 5 minutes episodes sharing some insights that you can implement in your business.
